Need a little advice. . .
ireid (1283 pencils) | Fri, 2007-05-25 23:49Hi all.
There is job opening for a "midweight/senior designer" in the Channel Islands for £30K a year. Not having much experience with the cost of living for a Husband and wife and baby in Guernsey, is this a reasonable level of pay?
Thanks for any help you can give.

That translates to a little over $59K a year, correct? OMG. I know as a senior designer, you can make anywhere from $60K on up in the states, so unless the cost of living is outrageous in the Channel Islands, sounds like a good income to me. However, I am nowhere near at the level of a senior designer (I only have experience of 4+ years). Especially if they're classifying it as "midweight" which tells me (perhaps I'm wrong), that it's a mid-level senior designer??? Then you can make even more money in the future if you stick around. I guess if you're willing to move and try something new, I think the salary sounds good to me.
Anybody else know better on this subject?

There's a website where you can see what areas pay what for a specific job. Go to www.salary.com and see what it says. I have never checked it, so I don't know if it's only for the states, but it's worth a shot. There are other websites that check this sort of thing, as well.

Thanks a lot. I will try that link. Anyone in the UK know what the cost of living is like now?
