The new iTunes 10 icon
Ivan | Thu, 2010-09-02 19:49I think it looks too generic. Hate the border, it feels like it was done in the 90's or as if it was a Vista icon. Brrr... What do you guys think?

I'm with you Ivan, very generic. Can't believe this is actually from Apple. Definitely a step backwards. A new mark is supposed to get us excited, not put us to sleep. This is a bore.
If it doesn't sell, it isn't creative.
I'm not sure whether iTunes development has been taken over by Microsoft, Adobe, or some sort of unholy joint venture between the two. Sort of wish Apple would reassert themselves into the process, though.
People are working on options:

Never realized icons were so important to people.
I don't even use iTunes so I couldn't be bothered by the logo either but I find it an interesting subject that Apple released such an old-fashioned logo and I like to look at what other people make of it.

I don't care that much, but it's like having an ugly object in your office, like a dirty napkin or something. It just destroys the mood. This new iTunes icon isn't that bad, I would not change it, but it did strike me as an odd design choice.
