New Las Vegas bowl Logo
Gidgidonihah (20 pencils) | Fri, 2009-04-17 22:12Ok so I'm a fan of BYU. A forum post on the cougarboard (where the common element is BYU football) discusses the new logo:

and the old one:

What's the take on it where the common element is design?

They both suck immensely. I'm not sure I've ever seen a logo re-design get worse that the already incredibly horrible original.
I really hate that the bowl games are basically selling their souls to the sponsors. It's the Las Vegas Bowl, it's always been the Las Vegas Bowl. Now all of a sudden it's the freakin "Maaco Blow" in Las Vegas.

Yeah, that's about how I feel. Everything comes down to money. That's the reason byu went to the bowl last year instead of tcu. But I digress.
I never understood the old logo. Let's make a lame starburst and call it a logo. Not to say the new logo is any good, but at least they are going for something that makes sense--the iconic welcome to vegas sign.
Unfortunately I don't like neither. It's too much! Keep it simpler. Bring in an idea, fresh colors, refined type.
Both of them are really bad but what I wonder is whoever designed this how did they get an ok from pioneer and maaco to display their logo so horribly within a logo. Money or not they could have gotten a college student to do it or someone to donate it. Soooo bad!
