New Logo

I would be interested in any opinions that anyone may have on the direction of this early draft logo.

The logo is for a Building maintenance company.

your acorn looks like a bell, flip it around.

I agree it looks much better that way round. I have no idea what made me leave it that way round in the first place.

I dunno, it's pretty typical to turn the "o" into a shape of some sort. What if you made the acorn big and put the text below or to the side?

I agree with what people have posted thus far but here are my overall comments:

- Take a closer look at your kerning overall
- I would also explore a different type face, it can still be masculine and bold but maybe with different ligatures (ie: Trade Gothic Bold Condensed 20?)
- Possibly try stacking the words on top to create 3 levels
- Look at adding some highlights and/or some small key details to your acorn, as well play with the size of it when you adjust your kerning

Although the first rule of design is that there are no rules — I would say don't show what you say. Everybody knows how an acorn looks like. If you do show it, use a style that is very original or unexpected. But, better not to show it. Why not create a squirrel character rather. Or use the tree's leaf as a symbol. You know what I'm getting to...

On top of that, a bit of praise. The color selection is perfect for the logo. Good choice.

to me the weight of the 'o' seems a bit too light; partly because of the color and partly because, well.. of the size ;-)

if you plan to keep the 'o'-replacement, i suggest you play around a bit with the size & rotation. also, overlapping some characters (ie the 'c' and the eikel - that's what we call it here in holland ;-) ) might do the trick.

I would certainly make the icon larger or use it seperate from the type.

One thing nobody mentioned is the wording. "Acorn" should be seperated from "building maintenance" as Acorn is the name and building maintenance is what they do.

Right now you have "Acorn Building" and "Maintenance" seperated. It doesn't make sense.
