New Logo for a New Government (CHILE)
jean-baptiste (21 pencils) | Wed, 2010-03-10 08:22Yesterday, the soon to be government here in Chile, presented the new logo for official use on all government documentation.
According to spokespeople for the new government "the image of the coat of arms represents a return to our [chile´s] roots combined with the legend "Gobierno de Chile" (government of chile) in a modern design that simbolizes a spirit of work and future" (roughly translated)
So far there hasn´t been much designerly discussion surrounding the new logo, so I figured that I would get some outsider perspective on the subject... needless to say, maybe, that I have my doubts about ¿how well the new logo reflects the values the spokespeople claim?
Please comment, I´d appreciate any input...
attached is the old logo, implemented about 10 years ago.. which in it self seems like a short time for a government logo...

We are no outsiders, we are all in
alright, sorry about my word choice... all I meant was that I would like opinions about the logo change from people living outside Chile... who probably have a different perspective on the subject than people residing in the country... thanks for stopping by though...
don't like any chilean logos with light blue inside
the red, blue and white should be standard.
as I hate actual brazilian government logo that added red (it's obvious to understand how it could happen) that don't figure in our flag.
I think they hadn't time to find a decent logo and made an EASY solution xD
past ORNAMENT + something MODERN = there we go!
My suggestion is simple: "Gobierno" could be dark gray or black to make connection with arm.
I see in this logo something creepy :P
the dark blue seems a tsunami, the light blue is the sky and the red is the continent.
yes I'm brazilian xD
The old one is cool. Not for a government logo, but just an op art piece to hang on the wall.
