If I had known I would have waved when you went by. I live a few miles off I-5 just south of Centralia. I bought my G5 iMac down there in Oregon too. Where did you go to buy?
Enjoy the Powerbook. I have an older Titanium and loved it in it's prime, but I need something smaller and faster.
We went to the Washington Square Store in Tigard and they were very nice and helpful.
How did you like the strange Gospodor monuments? Did you see them? They are kinda cool at night.
Enjoy the new Powerbook and don't hurt yourself with all that speed. :D
Heck yeah for Portland... Can't wait till i get to come back.
I just wish there were more Apple retail stores.
Woot! Just unplugged the windows machine (well, everything but the power cord and the network cable). Its dope though, cuz I terminal into it from my pbook if I have to which is perfect for testing stuff in IE.
I'm LOVING the dual screen mode!
Incidentally, is it just me or is 512megs of ram just not enough?? I just ordered another 1 gig chip. How much ram do you all use? I'm finding lag when I have dreamweaver, flash and fireworks all going at the same time.
PS to all those who found my flash to be laggy....well it is!! Its strange, but for some reason the osx flash player doesn't like bitmap transitions much and is generally producing far fewer frames per second. This is a dissapointment, but I'm hoping more ram will help. If anything it'll train me to render my flash at the most optimum conditions possible.

max out the RAM! OS X is RAM hungry, but if you give it what it wants it will pay back!
Ok, so if this turns into a list of why this powerbook rocks it could be a long thread, but today I finally got around to pairing my motorola phone with it, and guess what...IT ROCKS!!
Just figured out how insanely easy it is to set up OSX to use my phone as a dial up modem...which means...I can post little updates on how cool this powerbook is from anywhere Cingular has coverage.....which is a large area!
I love you Steve Jobs...I love you very much.

share your love among those hundreds working for Steve too :D
I just found a free dial-up provider too....www.nocharge.com (for those of us who have free long distance within the USA.
this is awesome...anywhere I go I can access the internet, and for free on weekends and nights! (cellular companies here usually give you limitless minutes after 9pm and on the weekends)

It's the... thingie... in the new PBs that senses when the laptop falls so it can cushion the hard drive fore impact. A couple of clever folk have figured out how to use it for other purposes, for example, tilting the Powerbook to one side or another to advance/pause iTunes.
More info.
hahahaha!!! thats funny, never thought to do that! I did notice it doing something weird when I was on the bus and it was bumpy, figured it was triggering the safety thingy. Unfortunately I think it kicked in while it was on my lap and messed up my display for a sec, I had to reboot a couple of time to fix it.
The other couple things that are pretty cool are the light sensor which turns on my keyboard and adjust the brightness of my screen....very cool. I used to have a little usb light so I could work in bed when the lights were off and not typo every second keystroke....the lit keyboard does a great job of this.
Oh, forgot the other nifty thing, the trackpad has cool new features, and they work very reliably too, I was worried they'd go off when I wasn't expecting...but the two finger scroll is dope.

That's very cool, the keyboard light. I should get me one of them their Powerbooks. I've dropped my iBook twice (once it fell from my desk, about a hight of 3.5', and another time from about 2', off of the nightstand.) and both times it's come out fine. However, the accelerometer is nifty.
