Here is a new try at an ID piece. Trying for a little simplicity.

*new submission, still need new type.

If I had to choose, I'd pick the bottom right. May I see your portfolio, if you have one online that is?

Looks nice! Top left or bottom right for me. It looks a bit like an S though, maybe a 6, but a G? Not really...

I keep reading this as an 'S', I like the bottom right the most right now.

I see "b"

your logo need a horizontal version for reduction with bigger types

"grieves illustrations" is lost. Of the ones presented I prefer the bottom right and I see "b" too.
Have you tried the mark on its own without a box?

Hopefully we get to check out his portfolio. By seeing a bit of his style, maybe he can incorporate a bit of that into the logo itself.

I also see this as a B or S. I rather like the lower left, but it will be dated soon, if it isn't already.

The typeface for Grieves Illustrations is too close to Tekton for comfort -- don't try for anything that mimics handwriting; go instead for a clear difference between your text and the mark -- and is much too small. Consider two-lining it so you can go larger.

Not feeling it. Whatever artistic value it has is obviously lost on the viewer. Nobody is even reading a "G" and the bottom text is already disappearing. If this is the plan, I'd say create a new slashy G that actually looks like a G (try to add some weight to it also) and then just put "Grieves" at the same size as the box flush left and make it a horizontal logo.

But a better idea would be finding a better idea.

As always... jmho.

It looks like a Zorro-y "S". I think you should brainstorm a bit more. Do some more sketches. It doesn't say "illustration" to me. Why don't you try hand-drawing a logo?

It is drawn by hand. I'll bring the spine of the G down and mess with the type and call it done for now. I'll revisit it some other time and update it but for now it should work for what I need.

You really don't sound motivated by your own logo at all.

At this time it is more of an assignment Leaky. Attending school and working 40 hours a week at job that has nothing to do with art is probably influencing my comments. In later date this identity piece will probably look nothing like this, but for now time is a factor.

Ouch man, I feel you on that. been there, done that, it ain't easy. keep your head up, go at your own pace. Don't want to burn that candle at both ends too long. Good luck, looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.

Have you tried taking the paintbrush and doing up a lower case "g".... might get rid of the "b" confusion...

Good luck with the balance of work and school.

Are you guys still seeing a B after the revision?

Still not feeling it. Don't understand your obsession with this shape, but I do understand time constraints. I did the "stand-in" logo thing my first couple years before getting around to doing something nice.

You ever get something stuck in your mind or on your shoe you just can't shake, that's probably my obsession with this shape. I'm not saying it's good, but for now with what I need it for it'll do. I still have a couple of semesters of school before I really need anything professional. In that time I'll research more and get back into having free time to actually draw without thinking about homework. Thanks everyone for the advice, it's appreciated.
