Newest version
jaronoff (89 points) | Tue, 2005-05-24 03:01ok.... here is a newer version. Newer on top, older on the bottom. What do you guys think? This is a newer, sleeker version using a variation of the same fonts and slimmed down in the detail dept.
i would love the critique.

The major issue is the cooper black, get rid of it, and put up something that is clean and not so old and heavy. Also the text should be beneath the icon, not beside, it just doesn't read well like that.
Hope it helps.

A friend referred me to a c.o. that he is working at. I don't know of any other openings, but a good thing to do is, go to pittsburghcreative.com and check out the design firms in the city. Good Luck.

I don't like the typeface, otherwise you have good conceps going on.
I do like how you changed the circle to two thin lines.. very cool. But, like the others said... get rid of cooper.
man! how come everybody is hating on cooper black? I think it's a good font. Yes, a little overused but i still like it.
That being said, if i were to change it, i would want something that was circular... and something that was a little traditional yet new and sleek? A little unused maybe? Futura, or frutiger.... hmmm. will look into it.

Well, the best advice I can give you is to find a font, bring it into illustrator if need be, change it to outlines and change it to make it a good symbol for your website (or whatever it is). I think just sticking the plain cooper "a" in a circle is kind of boring.
Well to give you my honest opinion, I don't like either of the two designs so far.
I personally think the typeface choice here doesn't work well. The word 'aronoff' over powers the word 'design' way too much. I know you want to show a distinction between the two words, but does it need to be as strong as this? I also find the tracking (or kerning, which ever you used) in the word 'design' a tad uncomfortable. Perhaps that is due to its italic style or its relationship and position to the other word 'aronoff'.
What I do like is the smaller ‘d’ and the circle in the new design. It does feel more modern and cleaner but I think you need to re-think the Cooper Black typeface. Cooper Black can be a great font when used in the right context, but I don’t think this is it.
