Nigerian Military school foundation logo

This logo is for The Nigerian Military School exboys Foundation, its a military school i finished from some time back. we are setting up a foundation to unit ex students, which we refer our self to as exboys. on the right side is the schools logo and on the right is the logo i'm proposing to use for the foundation. Seven gold colored stars below represent the seven company's(houses) the school had and putting that in a circle with the foundation name is to depict unity amount the exboys.
The black shield is representing strength, while the shield with the blue, yellow, red and green colors are the schools flag(each color has a meaning). I used a gold colored eagle instead of the initial red to depict value as for those who have gone through the school have become great. so i would need your comments and advice on this.thank you.

one screamingly obvious problem is that the distance from the outside edge of the shield to the inner colored striped area is not consistent all the way around. that gives the whole effort a sloppy feel right out of the gate.
the bird being orange makes it fade into the yellow stripe and the rendering of the bird also looks a bit inconsistent and overall cartoony...
id say the whole thing needs a bit of a rethink. and definitely a rework.
I'll agree with WGZN, the colours blend together too well and start to fade in some instances. The stars are too light and are hard to see against white and your eagle could use a bit of an outline or different colouring to make it stand out. The spacing between your words and stars is also inconsistent and it's bothering me- not sure if you want to fix that.

I'd make the 'eagle black. Center the colored part of the shield, and make the black stroke around it about 30% thinner.
Space the stars equally and make them 10% bigger.
The type needs more impact too in my opinion.

Apart from the color difficulties already stated above, your justifications are good. I like the symbolism and concept, the execution is just a bit off.
Other than the stated problems, it's a decent upgrade, nice work.
dont really care for the term "exboys".

sure it is. we often give suggestions to things that may be unwisely named.
if its changeable, great. if not. never hurts to suggest.
some execution problems that people told above and yellow to background yellow problem.
you can test a bigger bird and stars, and take care the yellow stars on white background are not so recognizable.
