Non-Prof Film fest poster idea

I plan to hand paint this poster in watercolor (red) but i wanted to run it by you guys b4 i started on that task. I will be adding all the other info (sponsors, logos, locations etc.) below it in black. What u think? Thanks.

I would rethink the color of the title or the color of the finger text. They all stand out the same. It is hard to read. i would make the finger text either black or another shade of red. I would also make the date smaller and not go up the thumb.
It shouldn't just be interesting ... it should also be easy to figure out what is going on.

Design for No Reason
i based it on the idea that it's the 5th Year (five fingers) and i considered photos of people w/ hands up first but thought the text would be too secondary. i don't know what to do now. I can't go on with the idea now - even though I've had it in my sketchbook for 5 months now! It's my own idea - but it's obviously not original.
does nayone know what to do in sits like this or is it just 'sulk, scrap and redesign'?
Happened to me several times. Just bite the bullet and come up with something new. At least you found out early on. Imagine if it was all printed...
It's a pity, because I really like the concept.
One of the reasons I posted was to work out the kinks before I hand painted it.

...but you could do a footprint? Or anything else that has 5 somethings. Like 5 star hotel, 5 gears, 5 dollar bill, 5 cent, G5 ;)

How about a film reel with like 5 frames hanging off of it to represent each year? Dunno... just brain storming.

Stating the obvious. How about using the the numeral 5? every one likes a big number 5! Now you just gotta make it not a plain old 5... some kind of filmy 5 or somethin... good luck.
I have considered using variations of the number 5 (tic marks, dice, candles etc.) for a fundraiser invite and the writing on the hand was a 'save the date' idea but with just the date of event and "call me!".
The film reels are too obvious (after 5 years we've used it all.) But i think the marketing director (a photographer) is secretly pleased that that design is a no-go so we'll probably do a photo shoot soon.
