offset printing for business cards

I have designed a business card where the background colour is a medium pantone (2716 U) and the text is either a dark pantone (2758 U) or else the card colour (felt weave in a warm white or cream).

The smallest font using the card for it's colour is 7pt bold. Will the surrounding 2716 bleed into the punched out font and cause problems with legibility?

Thanks all. :)

I'd think you'll need to overprint rather than knockout. A knockout would show the white of the paper in event of misregistration and I'm afraid spreading or choking (trapping terms) just wouldn't look right either.

IMHO.

In my opinion, 7 pt type is awfully small for the kind of paper you'll be printing on. The textured surface and dot gain are both factors you should discuss with your printer.

By the way, if you choose the cream stock, it may affect your light lavender background color. Again, ask your printer for guidance.

Is that smallest text ink or negative space? That makes a difference. Regardless, I'd ask your printer.
