Off-topic creatives - what we do when we're bored

I for one love what I do for a living. Design to me is more than just a job, it's my hobby and my favourite topic. But every now and then I need to get out and do something completely different. Firstly because I'm losing my tan from being inside all the time. Secondly, because I'm prone to "cabin fever".
One of my favourite pass times is mountain biking. Just last week I had a nasty scramble and ended up with a sprained wrist and a cat-scan. But that's all over. I still love doing it. I also love hiking (5 day hike and camp deals - not the thumbs out one.)
I don't like yard work - especially since I have those magnolias in my yard that are perennial leaf droppers.
What do you do?

I have a 4 and 2 year old... so, I have no life outside of work and the kids. That's really about it. Sometimes I scrapbook with some friends. I like gardening/landscaping and taking pictures.
Work keeps me out of trouble.
My friends are always dishing on me for never leaving the studio. I reply, "What... Are you kidding? It's freakin' nuts out there." "Why in the hell would I want to go out there?" :)
I left last night to take my daughter and friends out to Books-a-Million for a midnight title release party (some vampire book or something). and on the way I got a speeding ticket, got into a huge argument with my wife at Cracker Barrel (about my driving, of-course), and slammed my pinky finger in the car door.
Anyway, in-studio, I have a tabletop, flatstock graphic screenprinting press for fine art and I make my own paper to print on. It's quite a drawn-out process, but it's also highly-rewarding. When I'm not doing art, I'm taking care of our 3 acres, tending my bean patch, or hanging out and meditating or reading in the Bale Bengong (Google it). Occasionally, I'll get out and play at a writer's night, sit-in a writer's round, or just jam with friends. I mean, why not... It's Nashville, after all. :)
Tonight I'm going to Nashville's monthly Art Crawl. That's 7 or 8 simultaneous gallery openings, all complete with free wine and cheese. So it's sort of like bar-hopping with art. After that, I'm going to see "Gonzo," the documentary about the late Hunter S. Thompson.
Hopefully, I'll return unscathed.

During the summer months we boat/tube, swim, canoe, and fish.
In the winter: badminton, downhill and cross country ski, take the boys to hockey and swimming lessons, work on a novel, and I may begin renos on our new digs--I've always held a strong interest in architectural design even if ours is the only home I get to tinker with.
Sorry to hear about your nasty spill, Mint, and that you heal quickly!
Cheers.

Tennis....definitely tennis!
I have been playing tennis for over 15 years, so I try to play as often as I can. I'm addicted! I play in local tournaments and leagues and just try to keep it going year round by playing at our indoor facility.
During the winter, I'm an avid snow skier (downhill)! Love it. It's the reason I moved to Colorado in the first place. Couldn't stand the "ice skating" back east. LOL
When I'm not playing tennis or skiing, I work on my pop art. I have become quite addicted, and since I recently purchased my new Intel iMac in January, I can't seem to get away from it. With this amazing 24" screen, what could be better? Pathetic, I know.
Otherwise, I too am schlepping our 8 year old daughter back and forth to either soccer, track or tennis. So that kept me busy this summer as well.
Being a mom will do that. :)
