old G4 as an external backup drive??

Can I setup the old G4 400Mhz I have as an extenal drive

to show up on my G5 ddesktop?

If possible does the G4 needs a monitor and can it be done if

the G4 is running OS 9.1?

How would I do that? with Firewire?

I've used my iBook as an external drive to the schools nice new G5 towers via FireWire. I'm not sure how to do it with OS9, but with OSX at least, it's easy. Turn on your G5, plug in your little FireWires, then turn on the G4 and hold down "t" until it appears as a drive on your desktop.

That's how it works with Panther, perhaps someone else will know how it works with Classic.

as Joshua said. and you dont need a monitor and it doesnt matter what system you have on that hard disk, it will mount as an external disk.
