Omedia
caoimghgin (845 pencils) | Wed, 2010-08-18 19:36Addressing critiques of previous design post. Reducibility is enhanced. Decided to use three rings to create the blue 'O' in the mark. The 'v' in videography now lines up to the O.
As to the 'O'/'videography' reading as one...thats a feature. A small homage to Monkey who came up with OMG for OMediaGroup. I intended the viewer to internally dialog 'Ohhh! videography'
OK boys, take your best shot.
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.

"Reducibility is enhanced."
ok, but only by about 6%
this is a yawn of an approach.
the O looks floating

yeah i think with the blue receeding into background and the orange coming forward the O needs to be made alittle bigger, and sit lower to balance this.
I like it.
I wish that orange was darker. Otherwise solid work.

don't agree with type.
there are a lot of other fonts and kerning working to fit it.
yes I'm brazilian xD
How can you hate Ariel Rounded MT? The official font of Web 2.0. ;-)
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.
prefer more circular O
actual type make the logo 10 years old
yes I'm brazilian xD
Suggestions:
Try Garamond or Meta.
Remove a few of the dots to add a bit of tension.

Go back to the critique front page and look at the reduced version of this one and the older one. See how subtle the detail is on the old one? This one looks a little clunky in comparison.
Just an observation.
I totally agree. 100%.

I really want to be nice about this, but am finding it difficult, it is a huge improvement on the previous 'bargain bin' glossy shit we have seen before, but this is lacking in personality and movement, the colours are cheap and the type treatment is boring, minor changes could make this nice. Keep at it. Your first version was better, I liked the way it looked slightly 'out of focus' with the smaller dots, don't worry about reducibility, that will re-enforce the fuzzy look. I just think it is quite generic, that may suit the business though.
I like the idea of the eye / lens. What other sketches have you come up with?
I can't imagine anyone ever saying "Oh! Videography!" haha
Sorry to be so negative, but critique is all about honest opinions, and they are made all the harder knowing your employer is looking over your shoulder in here.
living on dreams and custard creams.
No no! Good stuff. Appreciate the critique. I think the first one was the better of the two. Unfortunately, the client hasn't been in contact so I'm in a hold pattern right now.

I"m sorry to say but the "dots" are overdone on everything. i like the typography and colors- great start
