brief: create a simple logo type combined with an icon to feature community artwork. Demographic for advertising is 96% female. Clean, simple logo must work with and without the icon portion.

* I always lean towards Futura when I hear the words "clean & simple" I know I want to keep this type treatment in a sans-serif and I want to stack it somehow as well. The illustration at the bottom is stock to represent what the artistic hairstyle would look like.

Questions & comments are welcome! Thanks in advance for your time.

I like it...

As a woman (your target) I am drawn to the bottom options. I like the text without the surrounding box.

The line drawn hair is interesting, but I think it needs to be tighten up a bit.

Just curious, what is this project? What kind of company/service is this?

The line drawn hair is just

The line drawn hair is just my quick representation of the hair which would change depending on each artist's style that was represented. The icon is kind of like the housing for each "featured artist" that the company is highlighting for that period of time. Hope that makes sense ;)

the project is kind of hush hush right now, but as soon as I can release the information i will definitely let you know.

i definitely prefer the non-reversed version. especially if your goal is "clean."

i would take a look at "optical" alignment instead of standard alignment and alight the "o" in one with the apex of the left side of the M instead of the baseline of the left side of the M. it looks like it's hanging over the edge.

I also like it and am with riskart1 and gwells on the sans box preference.

Trés clever use of the keylined head for each artist to mount their artwork style on. Bravo. However, with the text as a stand alone only, you may wish to look at adding a keyline or some minor graphic that won't detract from the artist's work when it is displayed; or, shade/change the colour of the "US" in the word "MUSE" as it is a community project.

Not bad, but I'm not sure

Not bad, but I'm not sure why you are using a head/hair to represent art? Reminds me more of a hair salon in these samples.

These are really cool samples...

if you were designing a logo for a hair salon. I agree with Nato on this one 120%. #1 and #2 are un-creative though.

I think it works

In my opinion, it works with the hair. I like that it has that feminine quality to it without being TOO representational (i.e. breasts, etc.). I think it conveys exactly what she's wanting it to convey by incorporating the hair. I don't solely get that "hair salon" look, as I think just because a woman's head is being used with hair as an artists' representation/rendering, doesn't necessarily mean it's for a hair salon/spa—it's simple and to the point and it works.

My favorite design is the first logo, second row. I particularly LIKE that you hand drew the hair —it gives it an organic look/flow to it, which is also a feminine attribute.

Just my two cents.

Though I like the simplicity

Though I like the simplicity of it, I agree with 3dogmama that a keyline or graphic might be a good idea since the type isn't as strong on its own. I like the idea of the hair style changing as long as it's feasible for the company to produce. I would leave off the two strands of hair in the back (not sure if those are meant to be a consistent part of the design), they don't really add anything.

Thanks for ALL of the

Thanks for ALL of the feedback. I'll put together a re-design with all of your suggestions. In regards to the hair comments I wholly agree this DOES initially work more for a spa or hair salon. BUT I wanted an appealing feminine icon to integrate with artist's creations... considering the target demographic is 96% female I thought a cool hair-do would suit their needs perfectly. Being a woman and having tons of women friends I know that one thing many of us love collectively is a fresh new hairstyle. (although there are exceptions to the rules). Can't wait to re-work with the new ideas for the type treatment and make it less "uncreative"

Thanks again all I appreciate your time!

I really like this.

It's very well worked, it reverses, it's simple, it scales.

Top work.
