im sorry....i really don't see anything special about this photograph. But i do think it has dramatic potential like, say, if you had included another point of interest. Without a better scan and some photoshop editing, though, i really cant tell how good your camera work is. It looks blurry to me. Correct me if im wrong, but i think you may need a lot of work on your technical approach, both software and hardware. I am curious what camera and film are you using?
The film is t max and the camera is a canon ae 1 . The picture is soft focus shot at a film speed of 1/15 in low light. These pictures have gotten one extreme or another on how it's viewed, some love some hate it, typically it's been considered beautiful or disturbing. When displayed it is one of three, maybe you would find it interesting if you were to see them together, mabe not. I hate to repeat myself but no, I never use the computer, my work is done in the dark room, things like this imiage takes a considerable amount of finesse, fiber paper takes a bit more than rc paper for instance. We don't actually teach students to use fiber until photo 2. when they have a better grip on the basic process.
at least a little bit. most raw scans just aren't representative of the photo.
as far as the image goes, it's not really my style (and so much of photography is personal). i just can't tell what the focal point is (not the "in focus" focal point, but the "what is most important" focal point). it's not just soft focus, but out of focus and a little bit flat (there don't seem to be any black blacks, which feels odd for an image with such a large "black" area). i don't know if that's because it hasn't been adjusted digitally to represent the print/negative (or whether you scanned a print or negative) or if it's just how the negative is, but it definitely looks flat to me.
Interesting start and it appears you have a deep passion for your work.
Your photos may need some honing, but they remind me a little of Yuri Dojc's marble woman and some of his provocative eros works:
The picture has real true blacks but I looses a lot of it by just scanning it. The fiber paper, if used with the right filters of course is known for haveing the true blacks. The focus point is, as with all pictures, is drawn from the the one looking at it. I have thoughts behind it, but without its two other pictures beside it then its hard to see them. These are my children and a bit of me, but you take what you want from them, if you don't see the point then it'll do no good for me to point it out for you. lol. I simply enjoy taking pictures, no I don't expect anything to come of this type work but I do enjoy it and find it to be a theropy of sorts. Thank you for all the feedback, I really enjoy reading them. Oh and Ill def. check out Dojc. L A McWatty

Dojc's one of my faves. Had his big pink vinyl Kiss hanging prominently during my college years.
