It just refreshes the widget during which time it "twists" the widget on the screen. You're not missing much nato... Dashboard is about the most overrated feature of the Mac OS since Sherlock

I'm of the ho-hum school. I only use them to amuse my PC friends.
And natobasso, you can put the Dictionary icon on your dock and click on it whenever you need to look something up. It's faster than browsing.

I can put dictionary.com in the search bar of my web browser which I'm in all the time anyway. :) I still am not convinced widgets are anything but extra bells and whistles...just my opinion.
