Intel Macs coming soon?

MacWorld Expo is upon us (well, almost) - what do you think we're going to see this year? Last year we had the Mac mini and the iPod shuffle. Obviously there will be a new version of iLife (maybe with an iWeb component?) but as for the iBook above, I wouldn't bet on it :-)

Post your speculations!

I speculate for that iBook, but without the ugly sticker.

Well, you never know...maybe Intel redesigned their identity to conform to Apple's guidelines? :)))

2Gb Shuffle... Only change I'd make beyond that would be bluetooth earbuds :) Though I expect it'll have some sort of screen - small lcd maybe?

MediaCentre MacMini capable of at least 720p HD with HDMI output and support for 30" cinema display, featuring FrontRow with remote of course... and some more TV/movie on demand tie-ins via iTunes Store?

There's bound to be some big announcements or product launches, there always is! I'm waiting for the new intel powerbooks, but nobody is predicting those for a while yet :(

Still, hope burns eternal...

New Cinema Displays with built in iSight, new "home media device", iLife 06 including iWeb, new Shuffle. Anyone want to take bets EVERY SINGLE one of these are correct? ;)

It's all just 1's and 0's

OK, if there'll be a Cinema Display with a built in iSight, I'll give you $20.

It would be too much to redesign current aluminum Cinema Display just to build an ugly iSight in it. I mean "ugly", because what they way they built iSight into iMac is ugly. Looks like an a**whole (sorry for comparison - it was my first thought when I saw it).

Apple Cinema screen is a Pro screen and Pros don't need any iSigh (those who need may buy it separately). Just imagine a design studio with an iSight built into every screen around you. You will soon start feeling paranoid.

Exactly my point. The iMac is a home computer, and home consumers like to chat on iSights I guess. Adding an iSight to the Cinema Display would just make it more expensive (and everyone's already saying how expensive they are, compared to say, a Dell of the same specs).

Interesting comment about the asshole, though ;-)

I say the iPod Shuffle will be EOL'd and a 1GB iPod Nano will be added to the Nano line.

Unlikely, seeing how they've narrowed down on lines, not expanded them. There are three iPods, all three with two different capacities. It would be a good thing to continue that.

Having said that, who would've thought they'd drop the previous iPods like that? Myeah. Expect anything as usual.

I wonder if anyone buys iPod Shuffle these days. I mean, I really liked it when it first came out. And it was a decent answer to all those multiple "one-day-one-name" branded mp3 players.

But today, when we have iPod Nano at a slightly lower price, which features color screen and more memory - who would want a Shuffle?

P.S. iPod Shuffle also contains the shuffle feature

It's been a year since Jobsy talked up Tiger - maybe we'll get to see what's coming in Leopard, just to p**s off the Vista fan boys & girls who are STILL waiting...

Maybe an update to iWork '05? Drop shadows that actually make it to print would be nice, Steve!!! :-p

As people have said.. The prices will come down. Apple will get more popular..

I don't see no real problem..

Can anyone fill me in on a real problem with this switch to Intel

I hope the new Centrino notebooks come quick. It would be a giant leap forward for Apple. Especially those ultra low voltage kind. The notebooks from sony or toshiba utilizing those chips are half the heigth of the current Powerbooks and will work for 6 hours on a battery without a problem. They are even too flat to house a dvd drive. Who needs that a frequently anyway, considering Lacie USB drives are very cheap nowadays.

Or imagine a dual core 64bit centrino in your powerbook! Drool!

Rumors has it that it might be Yonah processors which will debut in the portables.

We'll just have to wait and see.

That's what I think.
I think Apple will first upgrade it's cheap models (IBook, Macmini) because the real power users will wait for the software to be compiled for the new chip. The Rosetta project may have some problems and it is always better to have a program running native without an emulator. Of course ILife will get a lift and probably something (IWeb) to create personal websites. Question of services I think .mac will get a new functionality, something like a storage for your movies you can get in ITunes.
There are rumours about flash memory being used to store the OS, that would be a good step to take. I cannot wait until the moment that all harddisks will disappear and replaced by flash memory.
On the IPod part a larger Shuffle will see the light.

When I see what is happening in Vegas with the attack of Microsoft and MTV on ITunes and other manufacturers attack on the IPod the only conclusion I can make is that Jobs has to deliver something extra to leave them in the cold.

With the new chip, great hardware design, most superior OS ever, Apple apps and Xcode the best programming environment Apple has everything to take over the computing business in most markets.

What are those empty squares on the sides?

Holograms or other safety devices I presume.

Only one more day to go :)

I think they're going to put out higher-resolution displays. Like the 17" 1680*1050 display, I think that will be available outside of a PowerBook, and the 20" will be...1920*1200, maybe?
