Opinion on tablets
hawks1528 (48 pencils) | Sat, 2010-01-30 22:32I am interested in purchasing a graphic tablet and would love some opinions on what the best brand would be, or any help really. I use a gateway laptop, working with CS4. If any other information is needed to make a suggestion, please let me know.
I appreciate any guidance on this matter.
Thank you.

Wacom is the #1 tablet manufacturer and I believe the Bamboo model is the big one for them these days. I don't use a tablet, so outside of that my opinion is basically worthless (sorry). Others on the board use tablets - wait for some of them to chime in.
I recommend Aspirin. It fixes deadline stress headaches. ;)
Seriously, Wacom is the only good choice really. Bamboo is great.
Wacom. Just bought an Intuos 4 a couple of months ago to try it out and am loving it.

I'm Intuos 3 and think default light pen could be lighter... maybe time to switch...
yes I'm brazilian xD
Thank you for the help. It is very much appreciated.
wacom is the only real option. ive used all their models from the bamboo up to the cintiq. and they all work great!
tablet use is purely a matter of taste. everyone i know who uses them - LOVES THEM!
but ive been using a mouse for so many years that it seems kinda dumb to change now. AND im totally in love with the multi-functions (assignable buttons and multi-directional scroll) of the logitech revolution mx mouse.
another small thing to consider is do you work at multiple locations or on multiple computers? if so, youre going to feel really crippled if youre used to a tablet at home then find yourself plunked into a situation where you dont have it...
I bought a Trust once, because it was cheap and big in size, only to end up buying a Wacom later and thus spending more money. Trust didn't have good sense of touch, produces a fabricated feeling. Wacom does feel real.

I've had an Intuos for about 15 years now - it's followed me from job to job and quite frankly to be without it would be like having someone chop both hands off.
Do it. Do it now.
