OS X Tiger 10.4.6 Font problem

An Apple Service person installed Tiger 10.4.6 to upgrade from OS 10.2.8 at his office after I brought in my harddrive. I have the software but the disk wouldn't activate the install, that's why he did it.

Now the new overall font on everything is such that some letters in a word are light and some letters are dark, making it very hard to read.

Is there a way to change the font?

Hi, Larry. Welcome. I'm curious why you wouldn't just download that version of the OS from the Apple site. If it's still available, I'd do that and see if that fixes the problem.

You can only download updates, not full installs, from Apple's website (or any other website for that matter, file would be HUGE not to mention illegally distributed).

First, you're in the lowest version of Tiger available. Make sure you go to Software Update and download everything it tells you to.

Was the entire hard drive replaced or just a new OS installed? If you have two system folders on your drive you can boot with either one, but I'm pretty sure it makes things more complicated and takes up unwanted space on your hard drive.

The tech should have installed OS X, without setting "Archive and Install", this wipes the drive entirely.

After you upgrade your 10.4.6 to 10.4.11 let us know if the font problem persists. If so, I'd imagine your system/fonts folder has no fonts in it.
