really depends on what it's for.
general favorites include trade gothic and myriad pro. especially love the broad family of myriad pro.
Avant garde is a personal favorite, except I don't care for the 't's.

I read the initial question and instantly thought of Myriad Pro... then I read the replies! Clearly I'm in good company!
Who needs anything other than Helvetica?
I do, I use Helvetica for the headlines of the magazine, but need a nice sans serif for the ads we create in-house. Myriad doesn't do it for me, there aren't enough versions. Or is it that I just don't have them. My only choices are: regular, oblique and bold. I need more variances in stroke width to maximize the styles of the ads. Thanks.
