Outlines and Strokes
Abdul (576 pencils) | Wed, 2005-08-10 19:02I've tried and tried, but to no avail. How do I apply a stoke, and have it go on the outside of the letters?
Like in Photoshop, the stroke doesn't cut into the letters, wheares in Illustrator, the letters get thin and look naffed.
In simple terms, how would I create text like this? Tutorials, and any other help would be great! I know there's a drop shadow there, but it's just the stroke/outline I can't quite do! I'm trying to create it in Illustrator by the way.

Thanks in advance. :)

Unless you have CS2 the only way is a work around. Make your 'TACOS' layer then duplicate it and put it behind the original. Select the layer behind the original and apply the stroke to it. It's a faux 'outside stroke but it's all you can do. Well......not the only thing you can do. Make your 'TACOS' all one path, select all the letters or parts of the object and then go to Object > Compound Path > Make (Command + 8 i believe) then go back into Object > Path > Offset Path and type the desired stroke size. Does that help?
EDIT: Oh yeah ummm that's all in Illustrator. Sorry I dont' do a ton of work in Photoshop so I'm always thinking in Illustrator terms.

Yeah, kind of. Still looks a bit naffed though.
Thanks anyhow.
