Outlines in InDesign

mzeid's picture

Hallo everybody,
I am working on a big project with a lot of graphics, tables, curves, etc and it is in Arabic. The client wants outlined EPS files. I have no problem with creating outlined EPSs in InDesign, but my main unresolved problem is:

whenever you outline a text box for example in InDesign, the real live non-outlined text is still there in the document under the outlined text. My question is:

Is there a way to get rid of all live non-outlined text from the document? I do not want to delete it one by one, this will take ages. Can anybody help please?

Also, is there a program that will open the exported EPS files from inDesign and do the outlining on the fly while opening them?

Thanks,
Mohamed

Huh?

Are you sure you're selecting the text box with the Selection tool and not selecting the text itself with the text tool before converting to outlines?

You want to select the entire text box, not just the text - otherwise you end up with outlined text sitting in the existing text flow and text box.

Yes, I do select the entire box with the selection tool and outline the text, but the non-outlined text is still there under the outlined.

Maybe you have some text

Maybe you have some text boxes locked.

Select the selection tool & "Select All" (Command A). In case anything is locked - "Unlock" all (Command Option L) & then "Convert to Outlines" (Command Shift O).

Export an eps file from

Export an eps file from indesign and then open that file in Illustrator. Select all and Create Outlines. Save and send that file to your client.

Tiger has Automator which you can use to automate tasks like this.
