pen packaging
cissabrandao (154 pencils) | Fri, 2009-03-27 09:34For this project, we took a field trip to a pen store and were given one week to create packaging and a booklet for whatever pen we purchased. Due to the very graphic nature of this 4-function pen, I tried to design packaging that feature it as a modern art piece and that resembled a museum case. With the top case of, the base can stand alone and to hold and display the pen at a desk. My attempt here was to create something really bold and sophisticated.

I like the design and it is bold. But, not sophisticated, at least not in the sense of five star hotels. It's more utilitarian, it feels like a pen for a hard working handyman.
i would say more "engineer" than "handyman." but yes, it's definitely appealing to a very distinct market here and looks very nice and appropriate.
i agree.
i guess when i said sophisticated, i actually just meant that in the "modern" sense, but definitely not fancy or elegant.
I should definitely watch those words if trying to explain the project to a potential hirer. Thanks!
my goal was to appeal to the engineer a lot more than to the handyman.
thanks you very much for your comments.

I agree, handyman all the way. I can't see an engineer with a tape ruler. They are normally more precise than that.
I like it... but, I like it for a handyman, not an engineer.
Is this really a graphic design class or is it an industrial design class?
I didn't create the pen, I just designed the packaging.
It was for a class called Design Deathmatch, at The Creative Circus. We were given only 5 days to finalize each project – ready to be presented to a client.
