Peronal Logo 4

Okay, another attempt. I have used Akidenz as suggested by Art.D, nice one, I like it.

I have also tried to balance the weight of the text to the thickness of the logo, I think it's getting there.

Mara & Keef, you were right about the 'r' & 't' ligature, hope fully that is better in this one.

The split on the MW has been extended on the right hand side versions, I am not sure I like it, I think I prefer the square edged versions.

I have also done each with a gradient and without, not sure which one if either is right.

All critique is welcome, thanks for all the advice so far!

Oh yeah, and the new strapline, what do you think?

Number 1 for me. Like the new tagline too, although it's pretty light - could be a reproduction problem. The mark still needs more weight imo - the name is still overpowering the mark. I'd also like to see a smaller split between the M and W - but that might just be me. The kerning is also just a little tight on the "artin" - compare those letters to the "willis" - especially the "rti".

Good work - definite improvement in my book.

Martin, a logo without a gradient is always preferable. There are those among us (and I'm one of them) who believes logos and gradients don't mix at all. In your case, your logo has strength and energy that is immediately drained when you incorporate the gradient. Take from that observation what you will!

I like your #3, but without the tagline. Taglines are not usually part of a logo -- especially not a lengthy tag, as your is. If you must use it, please make it legible. I would also suggest that you substitute actual lines for that awkward vertical font character (the name for which escapes me now). When you do that, either respect your baseline, of bisect it in a way that balances better than the font character. Also, the stroke should be a bit thinner than the font version.

Prefer 1 and 3. I think the icon is a bit too large, and the weight is still not quite heavy enough. I don't mind the gradient though.

I don't like the strapline - it doesn't really mean anything, it's too lightweight and the dividing lines are too heavy.

Keep tweaking, because you are pretty close to a very nice design.

thanks all for the kind and constructive words, it really is appreciated.

I miss working in an office and being able to bounce ideas around, it can get quite lonely freelancing... :(

I like this forum, I think I'll be visiting regularly!
