Personal Business Card
Submitted by dpc on Sun, 2005-04-17 06:57.
This is a business card that I am going to get printed soon. I would like to have the "flame" letterpressed, but because of cost I can't. This will be printed on 100 lb white matte stock. Please let me know of any problems dealing with the design or concept.
Thanks!

The only thing i have against the logo, is that it looks a bit how shall I say... i know it's a flame, but reminds me too much of a... maybe it's just me. Forget it.
You don't need to put your location or postal address?
you're right
I does look like a... how you say... umm. Good point. Well maybe that well keep people's attention.
I don't need the postal address... the email is enough.
Ivan, you don't have anything to say about the concept?

i like it
Generally it has a very positive feel to it. I don't like blue for a creative card, but that maybe just me. Oranges and purples are more appropriate for my taste. Dark blue is so like a financial institution.
For me there is too much white space in the middle and too little on the bottom and top.
Also, I don't understand "Creative". Is this your title or your company's name?
stuff
I didn't want to be too edgy. I wanted to express that I am creative, but can also conform to the business of design and the professional world. I would like to make it orange, but that might make me too edgy.
I can think about the "white space" issue. You might be right, but how might I fix it?
The "creative" logo is my personal logo... because I am creative.... ya know.
Thanks

I do like it as a markand
I do like it as a markand maybe try some other colors too.
I think the flame shape is to close in size with the word "Creative" and it's fighting each other. I would make any of the 2 , a lot larger or a lot smaller, for emphases.
To me, the size relationship of the top portion of your logo and the bottom, where your info is at is about the same. Again about emphases.
I would play with the size relationship between them. I also think your info is to crammed together. I would give it more space.
yep
There is spacing and size issues. I hear ya on that.

When I saw it I had this
When I saw it I had this feeling hm where did I see that flame thing before?
The font used under both under Creative isn't a good choice.. I don't like it that the names and so on are so close to the white as they are white themself..
Creative?
What does it mean? Is your name alone not strong enough to get the job Done.
Just your initials DPC are more appealing (to me) than the word creative. stop and think how many people might have done just the same as you with the word creative and some sort of flame.. work a little more on it.
yeah
It might not be the most original idea, but I was giving up on that just to have a direct and forcefull personal logo.
It means "creative spark."
But I guess there is a way to make that more clear.
thanks

Call it...
Why not call the company Creative Spark? I think that sounds pretty good. You could scale down the 'spark' and place it at the end or over top of the wording. Be creative on is positioning.
With regard to colour, as some here don't seem to be a fan of the blue, why not make the type face black and implement the colour into the 'spark'? You could do a subtle orange-red gradient, or if you wish to keep the blue, model it after a hot gas flame - white-blue gradient.
Hope these suggestions help you out. I think Creative Spark is a solid name and will benefit you more so then Creative.
Cheers,
Ron

Commenting Error. My apologies.
Creative Spark
Creative Spark is an organization that the state of California uses to give artists and the like a foot in the door into the industry. It's a summer school sort of thing called California State Summer School for the Arts. Check it out sometime.
gotta clear it up, again
This is a personal business card. It is not for a company. It is for myself.

Hi. I love the minimalesque
Hi. I love the minimalesque feel, but for real life purposes, seems like you should make more of the space you got. You don't even use half of it. I'd also stick my web URL on there even though you don't have it done yet... because hopefully you will have it done eventually.
I am a more small font rather than caps-lock kind of girl, but that might just be me.
Spacing Idea
The flame needs more space above it. When you think about fire there is a tendency not to want things right above it- they catch fire. So human tendency wants to see alot of air space above the flame.
To me it is too minimalistic only in a certain way; I have seen minimalistic cards tha have a good deal of negative space that work. I think the problem I have here is that it seems like a style that should be 'busier' but is used with a minimalistic approach. thus there seems to be an imbalance happening. Perhaps it is the difference between having negative airspace around 'creative' and the flame, which is then not followed, reversed in the information at the bottom, which bleed to edge.

This is such an interesting insight. I felt the same way, but didn't know why. :D
By the way... your flame is
By the way... your flame is cold.. that's not a good thing when you think about it. Why not use a warmer color? I actually thought it was a drop of water before someone said fire.
Bunsen Burners man...
The blue flame is the hotest... well next to a white flame. don't you remember from chem labs?
What does this button d.... CRAP!
