personal logo

It is few variants of my personal logo I want to use for self-promotion. They are not final versions at all, I simply don't know which direction to go, and I’m stuck. My initials are NZ, and my surname means - bunny in my language, that's why bottom logo has bunny's ears.
I never though it will be so hard to design something for myself.
Please I need your help and lot's of critique! :) What are your thoughts please?

the first one is very amateurish, and feels like a middle school illustration of bad comic book, than a design logo.

the second one, looks way more pro. but is sort of boring. maybe add some type, or some other element. look at nyc' mta logo. its very nice, and in the same genre.

the last one is cute, and precious. and im not sure if its over the top and TOO cute, but i sort of like where its going. the ears aren't integrated very well yet, but i know its a ruff draft.

hey, its that guy, on the internet.

1st one - I wanted to give that handrawn scetchy feeling.

2nd - i quite like, but i think it looks too commercial.

3rd is my favourite at the moment, but I'm not sure, because like you have said it is too cute, and too girly :) hey but i'am a girl... dunno. Thats why i need your thoughts guys!

I definitely like the way you've drawn the ears on the bottom one, but I think it lacks professionalism, it would be good for something else though. The top one is my favorite so far, but I think it needs to look even *more* hand sketched so that it's more obvious at a smaller scale. I think that one has a lot of potential. I'm envisioning all kinds of comic bookesque designed business card, letterheads, etc... very cool concept and will no doubt make you stand out.

I know what a pain it is to do your own identity. I've been talking about it... not doing it... for like 3+ years now.

For a multitude of reasons I'm not a big fan and any identity shown above. Do you really want to be associated with a bunny? Images bring with them 'associations' and bunny ears are used to symbolize 'Playboy' and 'sex kitten' all over the world. On the other end of the spectrum you have the Easter Bunny.

I'm guessing that's not exactly the image you'd like to present. As others have stated there should be an element of professionalism. That doesn't mean your image has to be 'boring' or 'commercial' but in the end it should scream quality.

I'd expand your thought process to play with the natural relationship in shape of the N and Z in your name. If you look closely you'll quickly notice the Z is simply a 90 rotation of N. (or vice versa)

I whipped together a couple of quick ideas. Notice the N and Z depending which way you tip your head.

Another idea with the N embedded in the Z.

More fun.

These are intended to show another angle. As an exercise try filling a few pages of the sketch book with different logo ideas integrating the two letters. Then let them sit for a few days and come back to them. This is a good way to get 'unstuck'.

not to start a side crit, but those last two look way too aggressive, almost nazi-esque.

the very top left one you did quickly i like. it reminds me of the motorola logo, which ive always been quite fond of.

... that somewhere between "Nazi-esque" and "clipart cartoon bunny ears" lies a solution to this design challenge.

:-)

you made me think a little bit more further.

Playing with N and Z like Creative_NRG did - it was the first thing i did... and i think my sketchbook will be finished soon, it is all full of NZ doodles. But recently i ve realized, that i'm not gonna live with this surname all my life, so maybe i don't have to link everything to this idea of NZ relationship. I have to design something what i will be able to change in future, just by substituting initial. this is my dilemma. Gosh, there is so many things to consider! probably i will go with the first one, and work on it more, i see potential in that too. With bunny ears i wont get graphic designer job! :) in that im 100% sure now. it doesnt matter how cute it looks, it is not the imression i want to make.

huh, gotta work to do now. will show you later!
