personal logo
dsauna (286 points) | Thu, 2008-08-21 03:54Hi Everyone,
i'm working on my own personal logo, and wanted to get some feedback on it. Please for now just focus on the concept, I'll tweak other things later (tracking, type, color, etc.)
In the first one, the light bulb represents the ideas that I will create
The second and third one creates a s from the negative space
The fourth one is an illustration of myself.
Fifth one, similar to three and four.
Please let me know what you think.

Like an unhappy client, I gotta say I'd like to see a few other options :)
What are the letters you want to highlight? 'a s' 'D a' ? I'm not getting it.
The third one is the most interesting one I guess, if you want to highlight 'D a' (for some reason)
The illustration of yourself is a complete NO, IMO.
Hope it helps!
The Ad Mad
Drop your portrait. It's tacky. The light bulb is played out and uncreative.
Why so stuck on putting your initials in your logo? Have you tried other options? You're limiting yourself if you just stick with that one concept, which I think 2 and 3 really are the same idea, just different versions.
Back ot the drawing board :)

I'm going to print it out and eat it.

is this your company name or just something you're playing around with based off initial+last name? i.e., what's dsauna mean? how does that translate to DSA?
i'll agree with the ad mad, nothing here really does anything for me. the DSA with negative space has some potential to be interesting looking, but i don't really see how DSA relates well to dsauna very well (beyond it being the first three letters of the six).
yeah, I agree with what you guys are saying. I'm going to work more on new options.
Thanks for the comments

These are the "throwaway ideas" imo. You need to get more creative than using your biz name initials or your face (or a lightbulb?!) as your logo. Hate to be harsh but it's the truth.
Also, not to be a broken record but...read the What is a Logo post on this site. Use the "Search" field to find it. It will tell you all you need to know about creating a logo. Well, it's comprehensive at least.

Useful and interesting to see a design process from the word go but they aren't up to scratch. Have you drawn these out with pen an paper before jumping in to PS or AI?
The difference between a Graphic Designer and a Mac Monkey is generally the fact that a designer will be constantly working on a concept, on the back of a napkin, the margin of a newspaper, flipping a shape from a magazine page to add to the thought process etc.
If you're not constrained by brand guidelines then go wild, drag inspiration from anywhere and use it.
To coin a phrase... Good artists copy, great artists steal.
