personal home page. The Background image was originally generated in photoshop using brush and liquify. Afterwards several layers several mode settings and bluring. what do you think about the interface. Still working on it and will be ready soon.

Sorry, but I think that's horribly overdesigned.

Try to make it less of a statement and more of a resource to access your content.

since you have the artificial smoke techniique down. why no try to tie it into the two menu elements. Maybe have it wrap around them or , what would be really cool, overlap one of the white space in the menus to engulf them and pull the two planes together.

I think the title "surface" could stand out a little more and anchor the rest of the type. Its really minimal so a small revision like that will make a big impact. I agree about the smoke effect. Bring it in to the foreground somehow and make it look like its really coming off your menus...if that's what you're intending.
