Pet Peeve: Getting stuck in between programs
Charlie D (384 pencils) | Mon, 2005-01-31 19:59Anyone have this occur in os x?
Getting stuck in between programs? Just happened to me now...what happens is if something is loading for a while or if our server here does one of its "hiccups" and I am using safari and flash or illustrator or whatever, I can work in that program, but go to save it and it will try to save something in safari.
Word to the wise, when something is loading, stay in that program and dont do something else while it is loading in the background. Its hard to explain, but it just pisses me off.
Sorry I needed to vent...back to work!

I had that problem a bit, then I doubled my ram, it seemed to help a lot. OSX is a ram hog. The more ram it seems, the happier it is. Once I loaded it up w/ more ram than it could possibly use, it has been a happy camper.

i had that happen too when i had little RAM 256, now i have 512 and it still happens for a second or so. but with 1GB it never happens at work. i'm going to get 1GB at home too. bottom line, that's a RAM/HD swapping issue in OS X. imagine when you switch apps and your machine has to move a 200-500 MB of memory content to your HD to free it up for the new app and loading another 300MB from the HD to the memory to remember what was going on in the newly selected app. if you have big files open and switch around too much you might end up waiting a bit here and there. getting more memory will solve this.
