Supersizing your images part 5: Re-Sizer
Ivan | Fri, 2009-05-15 17:08We've discussed techniques for enlarging images before using Photoshop commands. Re-sizer is an action pack that uses a series of such commands as an action pre-packed for you to achieve the best possible result.
After downloading the file, you should simply put the action file in your Adobe Photoshop/Presets/Actions folder/ and run one of the following options:
- photoEnhance
- Re-Sizer 200%
- Re-Sizer 300%
- Re-Sizer 400%
- Re-Sizer 500%
- Re-Sizer 600%
See an example comparison enlarging the image with and without the Re-Size action pack. First The above image enlarged with just Photoshop's Image/Image Size/Bicubic Smoother command:

And here is the same image enlarged with the the Re-Sizer 300% action:

have you actually tried it or are these images from the company?
Yes, I have the above image is something I pulled from Flickr to test. The images they supplied were much better of course. :)
ok, thanks. then it looks pretty good.
i'm always leery of "demo" images/files/videos. you know they always pick things that work best w/their software/equipment. i always want to use my own stuff. like when i tested out new color copiers, i brought in 30-40 files and stacks of my own paper to do my testing.
I agree with you. I'm also skeptical and it's the right attitude. Don't worry these posts are not paid or sponsored posts. I'm not going to mislead my beloved readers. I will tell it straight if such a post would ever happen.
How much does it cost? I went to their website, clicked on the "Buy" link, but didn't see the price or any sort of ordering system. In fact I don't think that the page changed at all from their home page.
10USD.
same for me... how do you download it???
Great info. Wish I knew this a few days ago when I began editing several hundred wedding pictures! I just bought the program. It will be worth 10X $10 if it improves some of these images. The "buy" link was right there. I'll let you know how "dummy-proof" it is after I use it.
Question. Many of these wedding images are very blotchy because the photographer used ambient light, I guess. You mentioned the bicubic smoother command. Is that just the blurring tool? If not, where in CS3 do I find it?
Thanks and all the great tips and help!
That's just a resize. It's under Image/ Image Resize menu.
Do report back how it goes!
Hmmm.

Darn, now I can't use the excuse to tell clients "sorry, the image is too low quality to blow up past a decent size."
Will give this a try, thanx
