I've got a weird problem that could just be a bug on my PS.
Whenever I try to select a colour, with brush or text and ALT or simply using the eyedropper, the colour selected always adjusts the BACKGROUND colour??
Surely it should change the FOREGROUND colour?
What have I done?

"Did I really try to find an "undo" button on a vending machine?"
You're welcome :)
There's still things I'm discovering that I never used, and new ways to use things that I never thought to try.
Some of the most obscure but useful tricks have to do with combining multiple effects in certain orders, where any one of the effects used alone are fairly useless. working as prepress taught me a lot of them because there are some tasks that you need to accomplish which a designer wouldn't normally have to do.
And then there's the
And then there's the secreted surprises in software, most likely coded in by bored programmers.
I remember when I accidentally found QuarkXpress' raygun Martian. I was working late one night at a shop and suddenly heard these squashy footsteps followed by a blast of orange light from the left followed by my unwanted text box suddenly imploding and exploding in a vibrant array of greens and reds and oranges. I went huh, sniffed my drink and began trying to replicate the sequence of wrong keys I'd just recently hit. And, upon enlarging my viewing area, I watched as the backwards footed dude plodded across my desktop and zapped the selected box.
Supposedly there's hidden gonzo games, bizarre graphics and music, but I haven't discovered those gems...yet.

google has taken much of the mystery out of these. just google the program name along with "easter egg" and you'll find the majority of the instructions to activate them lurking in cyberspace.
