my webpage is like 75% done but I find myself needing to get some sort of portfolio up. I just bought my domain a few days ago and put this up last night. its self explanatory.. just a small portfolio page for clients to look at. let me know if you get any browser problems. I think its simple enough to use for jobs but rip it apart. thanks!

I like the simplicity of the site. You might want to make a home page, however. My first impression was that it was the webpage for K&M Models, rather than YOUR portfolio. Perhaps something introductory for you portfolio (like the contact info?) One other thing—the colors of your name clash with the K&M colors, but you can fix that with a home page. (Then maybe drop your name to b/w when the user navigates away from the home page?)
Just suggestions, good luck!

I agree, contact info. Maybe something that tells them to click on the companies above rather than starting with the artwork??

Overall, very nice.
I really really like the orangecork logo. :)

Might work with any browser but is not a very accessible or search engine friendly form of media.

Definitely try to make your logo more prominent. I agree with the comments that KM looked like you rather than your work.

thanks for the comments.
Yeah, this isnt something i would just put up and have people search for. It is only something i would give people the URL until my full site is up( 75% completed). The full site has the whole intro page that explains who i am and what i do, along with a contact page. It was more to see if the composition was fine and stuff. I also wasnt sure if it was obvious that the mouseover image made them scroll. i was thinking about putting some arrows in there to let the viewer know to scroll.

when i spoke of browser problems, it was towards the alignment of the flash file on the page. i know aligning and centering can vary depending on browsers.. was just checking to see if the css was fine.

I know that the flash file will work in any browser :P I am getting pretty good with actionscripting. all the pictures are loaded dynamically from an .xml file. to update, all i need to do is add another picture in the directory and update my .xml file and it will preload and scroll.

Flash isnt as bad as people say when talking about search engine friendlyness :D I used to think the same thing but i took the time to learn it and you can make it as accessible as you want. if you check the site again and look at the source you will find that i have a table thats not visible. it explains everything i would have on the page if it was in html, and more. and webcrawlers will see it. since im not archiving anything, flash is a great solution for a personal portfolio page. its also a more object based program, which is easier to design in my opinion. take a look at Lynx Viewer, its a program that allows web developers to see what their page looks like to web crawlers. google talks about it here under 'Make your site easily accessible'

http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=40349&ctx=sibling

and the news Nat brings up about flash files being found on google is even better! Since flash has become very big in video playing(youtube) most everyone has it. If you set it up right- very easy to update and maintain. all the text on my site is loaded dynamically too, edit a text file and easily updated! Flash is very powerful, especially with the new AS 3.0 capabilities. I sound like a flash nut but im really not :) its good for some things and terrible for others. its a great design tool so dont hate it, embrace it!

Hej

Great news about flash and search engines :) Didn't knew about it before! Thanks.

brainmot, your flash file is centered in all browsers :P means, your css is working ;)
flash works in the same way in all browsers - that's what I want to say in last post.
