Portfolio Printing

Hello,
Right so I have to apply to university soon and I want to promote myself well as my grades arnt great but my portfolio is. So I want to professionally print it to send it to the different universities.

Option 1. Cafepress! they will print books with full colour covers and will print runs of six which is what I need. But will only print Black and White on the inside. Do you think B+W is OK?

I need more options please help! I need a run of about 10 it doesn't have to be bound properly could just be stapled like a brochure but I need printers who will do this and advice do you think i should go with cafepress? Or do you have other suggestions?

Please Help!

B+W is OK, that is if your work is B+W!

Do you not have a printer? id suggest just doing it yourself. Print out on decent quality paper and get it binded. that should do the job fine, shouldn't be too expensive either.

Or, what i think would be a much better thing to do. would be to put together a PDF presentation of your work on a CD (with a link to your site included), put it in a nice slim-line DVD case with your 'head and think bubbles' logo on the front, contact details on the back and send them that.

Don't buy my quality Elvis or
Hendrix pop art prints!

No digital work is allowed to be submitted because they have to look in thousands of these things. Rubbish Huh.

I do have a printer but they won't touch anything like this. I am going to put a link to my site and my logo on it but no contact details as this is not allowed.

I agree with the post above, you might find it cheaper and easier to print all work by your own devices. you said you have a printer but "they" wont touch it - are you meaning a printers or your desktop printer?

When it came to me doing my folio, I bought an Epson 1290S photo printer, for the sole reason of printing my work. Printer cost about £200, and I figured it was worth it. Have not looked back since.

I would seriously consider printing it all yourself, might save you time and money.

Could you link me to the printers that you use if they do these booklet type things like this >>>

Thanks

I use a Printers called Printing.com. Now there work is ok, not amazing but they can do all sorts. Main reason I use them is my boss is more concerned about the cost as opposed to the quality of the work and they are a good compromise. Check out their website, but I dont know if they would deliver what you are looking for.

Nothing is impossible although from them youll get 10-20 for the same price as 100 no doubt.
I only know of local printers which will do a short run, and...well your not local to me, Try www.mch.co.uk and look up printers, see if you can find any closer to home.

Could I ask what the local one for you is? I cannot find any short runs in suffolk.

I found blurb.com but their book designer is awful! And they only ship to the us.

http://www.mch.co.uk/southeast/southeastindex.shtml There arn't really any standard printers around me really only sign artists and printers and they rule the design around here.
