Portfolio website

My portfolio website located at http://www.robertsinclair.net. Primarily using it as a supplement to a resume, primary audience is Creative Directors at medium-to-large design studios and advertising agencies for the purpose of full-time employment opportunities and secondarily, potential freelance assignments.

It's almost all corporate work, and I wanted to keep the site design fairly simple/straightforward/non-"flashy" so as not to compete with the portfolio work -- no gratuitous animation/sound/etc.

Wanted to give decent-sized views of each project and provide both linear (Next/Previous) and non-linear navigation options.

I like the design - very smart & clean - just right for the target audience. I have a few queries though:

- why use flash for the whole site rather than just for discrete elements? You have virtually eliminated yourself from search engines & could miss out on the "and what was his name again" type searches.

- I'm a little unsure why you've password protected your resume. I'm not sure its helpful to put barriers in the way of people finding out about you...

- Contact details. Can't we just see an email address? Its always a pain to open other windows in order to view basic information.

I used Flash for the whole site since I'm not a coder by any means and to be honest didn't feel like fumbling through Dreamweaver to develop the site. I also wanted to get something online sooner than later. I did consider the search engine issue, but since there's not a lot of text content on the site other than project descriptions, I've included several possible keywords in the meta tags of the site's page source for search engines to index.

I password-protected my resume because it contains contact information such as my phone number and home address -- information that is probably not necessary to present to the world :) The other reason is that I'm interested in knowing who is looking at my resume and for what purpose. Password-protecting it eliminates people looking at it just out of curiosity and focuses viewers to those who are genuinely interested and may have a job opportunity.

I used a "Contact" button instead of spelling out my e-mail address to make the button more useful -- I didn't imagine many people would transcribe my e-mail address for later use or otherwise write it down. I thought if someone would want to contact me, the button is there, which should launch their e-mail app with my address already filled in.

Thanks for the feedback so far, guys!

Keywords are pretty much useless these days. I agree on the flash embed. It would be one thing if the site required it, but most elements are static and should be in HTML.

That said, simple and nice. The form is a bit clunky where the project label pops up and breaks the simplicity. But overall a very easy to use portfolio site. Nice work, albiet non google friendly.
