Posting on CreativeBits

A little bit of advice for people who post critique on CB. DON'T use the name of the company you're doing work for. CB ranks high on Google and clients will inevitably find your post.
Just a thought.
Oooh, never thought of that.
Thanks for the reminder, Mint. Or, can I call you Cinnamon??? LOL

Thanks for that
Thanks for that reminder!
Web is public, public, public - no matter how high or low a site ranks on the search engines, it's content is all searchable and it should be obvious to people to not post information online that they don't want the whole world to find out one way or another.
(I still find it amazing whenever I see someone complain that they discovered one of their posts in a search and were just appalled that their information wasn't "private").
Same goes for MySpace...
I just read an article in the NY Times and they said that now prosecutors are researching defendants' MySpace page to see if there is any "incriminating" evidence (i.e. no show of remorse, etc.).
They recently convicted this drunk driver, who just put a woman in the hospital and is in critical condition, partying with his friends AFTER the accident. The idiot posted the pics on his MySpace page. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

You have got to be kidding
Seriously, how stupid can you get. Reminds me of that Facebook group of UK policemen who were bragging about crashing cars (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2008/jun/23/police)
No joke.
They're smart. They realize with the advent of MySpace and Facebook, these fools are posting all kinds of incriminating evidence against themselves, without even realizing it.

Also, when posting there is
Also, when posting there is always the chance that someone responding will use the company name if it is present in a design. Something to be aware of when posting or responding.
Right, that's why I don't
Right, that's why I don't post stuff from work. It's pretty much all high profile or else internal stuff and I don't want you guys to know where I work (no offense). ;)
That's okay
We know where you work... and where you hide your black current jelly beans! ;)
Mint, did you get caught
Mint, did you get caught because of one of your posts?

"Powerpoint is not a design application"
Well...
Now that you mention it... not yet. But I was doing the SEO for one of my clients, and realised that if I searched for them the 2nd result on Google was the CreativeBits post on their work. AAGH!
Alexa shows CB at 35,382
Alexa shows CB at 35,382 right now in the internet rankings so I'm not surprised it was the 2nd result on google!
Make sure your client's search terms and meta tags match. Might help your rankings. :) And don't forget the robots.txt and sitemap.xml files.
