PRISM logo Redesign

This company is trying to update its look and feel. They wanted to keep PRISM in all caps. Their old logo is on the left. Currently, they have a triangle theme with a lot of their materials. I tried some new things, as well as remaining close to the origional concept. Is anything working here? Or should I go back to square one? For the sake of simplicity, I left the logos black and white for this critique. Thanks for the input!

I hope you don't mind, but I don't think any of these are up to the standard you probably set yourself. These are typo experimentations. They are well balanced and safe, but there is no idea in any of them. I'm afraid you gotta go back to square one as you suggested. Write down the 3 things that this logo should communicate. Clarify to yourself if they haven't told you, why are they updating their look? What is their objective? What is their USP? Then start coming up with different ideas to visualize them and dramatize them. Please upload your next batch and share the brief if you have one.
Of the one upthere I like the logo on the right bottom.. with a triangle.. but I think as well as Ivan that you need to get back to the drawing board..
The Ideas of those above already exists on various logo around the world.. just different name.
I appreciate the comments guys. I'm kinda new to this whole thing, and I look forward to picking your brains in the future. : )
The problem mentally I run into is not doing cliche' ideas. Spectrums are off limits, and I don't really like the triangle thing to be honest. They didn't really give me much direction, so I will try to get them to specify. But if I had to guess, I would say the most important thing they want to communicate is having great ideas, as well as being a full service company that can handle everything a client would need.
Thanks again guys! I'll post round 2 when i get some done.
Perhaps they want to be the diamond in their field.. He he
Ivan told you just everything i would suggest. Anyway i like that badge kinda thing. I think it just starts moving. You know one way to go is start playing with letters (combining, cutting them eg.). Or even it is a good idea to create a unique typeface for the logo (that is what i would do if i had some time for it). Start playing with shapes, triangles eg., well the name is already prism :)
And it says something about marketing & communication, these are words you can grab easily and associate on a lot of things.
Also, bottom right is best, but you need to research a few things:
The market
Your client's competitors
Design principals
If you're new at this, these are the fundamentals you need to know for every project.
