problems down saving to QXP4...yes Quark 4!!
designbyjez (80 pencils) | Mon, 2008-03-03 13:42Hello
so, I have been asked to design a template in Quark for an A4 and A5 sized newsletter. we work in QXP 7 here but when I phoned up the client wito check technical spec they informed me that they use QXP4 on a PC ( I use a Mac)
They were thinking of just changing to Indesign, but now want to stick with Quark but they are too tight too upgrade from version 4.
Luckily we have an Old G4 with QXP 5 so eventually i managed to down save to version 4. but now they say that they can't open the file.
I've sent QXP files out before to PC's and they have worked with no problems. Never sent anything as QXP4 though (well not since QXP6 came out)
has anyone ever had this problem, and does anyone have any ideas? I'm supposed to visit them soon and they'll be expecting results rather than me just saying "upgrade your software, you tit"
Thanks!
Jez

I believe that older versions of PC Quark need the .qxd extension rather than the .qxp tacked on the end of their files. Or did you try this already?
ttfn!

Make sure you collect your quark doc and that all files are in that one folder. Also, make sure your client has the requisite pc fonts to match your mac fonts.

I have told client about adding .qxd to the suffix but because i wasn't there and they are not very computer literate i'm not sure if they understood
the file has been collected ok- but i may do it all again
I'll be visiting them soon and was just trying to gather as many solutions as possible...keep them replies coming! cheers guys!

Adobe is very helpful when it comes to migrating from Quark!
