Project logo For Carbon

Project logo For Carbon

I'm going to the school for Graphic design. I started a few mouths back and I'm working on a project logo for class. I would like some feed back on one of the logo pages I have for this project. I would like to know if any of the logo are stronger then the others and over all help me pick one? Any ideas or comment on the page on any of the logos. Feel free to say what you think I'm not a cry baby
plus my teacher is hard core on thing like this.

The project is for too make a logo.
the company I got was Carbon brush supply
a Place that sells Carbon rods, joints, and brushes
for small motors and bike motors

Personally I prefer the use of the atom as a symbol over the actual product. But definitely choose one or the other (or some other element you may decide). Don't try to incorporate too much, it weakens the design. I can see how the typeface resembles the carbon brush, but I'm not really liking the font. Maybe experiment with different typefaces.

(It appears you've double posted. It'd probably be a good idea to delete the other post so you don't have 2 separate threads on the same topic.)

... Finding the "C" in the silhouette of the carbon brush. I would recommend further study with that on how the typography and the use of a spot color can emphasize that clever image. The shape of the brush may not mean anything on it's own, but because it's unique to the company and it incorporates the letterform I think it could be a successful mark. Your font choice is a very good one, although you should probably try versions where the words "Carbon Brush Supply" stand separate from the mark.

The carbon atom is unnecessary but is good to show in a presentation that you've simplified in order to bring clarity of the concept ... the "C" within the company's tool.

Definitely read this post before you go any further:

I recommend not combining your icon with your logotype. See Apple Computer, Nike for examples of what I'm talking about. You want to end up with your own 'apple' and 'swoosh' as well as a full company name in a font, but not inextricably linked together.

I'm not digging the colors either, too much of a 'dirty rust' feel, unless that's the look you're going for.

Start in black and white only, then after you nail down the shape add color.
