Project Management Tool?
PIMPTRIX (264 pencils) | Tue, 2005-05-24 20:42Anyone know about a good group project management tool?
It needs to be able to work in a network and be PC and Mac compatible. (I use a Mac and the other people use PCs.)
We need to be able to assign and track projects with it. Nothing too fancy, it doesn't need to display the actual project, just the name of it and descriptions about tracking. And it needs to update the tracking on all machines at the same time.
We have been using a big white board till now where we could track the projects, but because of the growth of the company, it is hard to keep track anymore and it's pure chaos. Noone knows where the projects are, what the deadlines are, what has been done, what needs to be done.....
If you know about a good software, it would be much appreciated.

We use Filemaker databases to track everything. Each record is a project, and has fields for:
Project name, job #, routing (date in, date out), names of those involved in the project, and also any stock photo information (rights, expiration, cost, image numbers).
It works well for our purposes, because we have a lot of information we have to track for each project.
Thanks, but filemaker seems a bit too complex. Most of the people I work with are not too computer literate and therefore I need something as simple as possible, something that would be just a small step up from a whiteboard.

Have you looked at Basecamp (http://basecamphq.com/)? I've never used it, but it looks pretty cool.
