prosperity denied booklet artwork (3rd try)
ollstar (109 pencils) | Fri, 2007-08-24 01:20so guys, i hope it works this time...
i had to delete my last to critique posts because the image was damaged. thanks for the comments so far, they are also gone ;(
for information: the band gave me lot of free hand for this work, just wanted to have a mixery of machines, factories and nature
i think its pretty nice to look on, but i'm not sure if the positon of the title of the album is right, is there to much contrast to the rest?
what do you think?

could anyone tell me why i cant open the 'view original' link? how can a jpg be damaged?
funthinkdreamheartsoul
maybe all the bytes didn't get up and file is truncated?
It's hard to tell from the smaller image, is the texture behind the band name black or brown? Can you make it browner? The P and R are a little hard to read at this size, I'm sure it's fine at actual size, but they'll be using a cover thumbnail on online retailers and in press and stuff. Something to think about, just maybe a little more contrast between the texture and the band name. Overall, I think it's really good, particularly for the genre. Someone else mentioned it would looks great as a digipak and it definitely would, but you'll never get the label to spring for it and even if they did, I don't think it's worth burdening the band to recoup the extra expense.
Just a thought, but using typewriter fonts at a point size larger than any actual typewriter could produce kind of bugs me, but I like the organic nature of it in this piece. Have you designed the back of the tray card yet? Are you going to continue the cover design to the back?
i'm so sorry. i don't get it, i tried a few things but it doesn't work... ???
although, do you think i should make the title smaller?
funthinkdreamheartsoul
You wouldn't happen to have a tighter shot of the type would you?

Do we get a prize if we guess right? :-) This is for a CD booklet insert, J card, something like that?
Mara
uhm, yes?
funthinkdreamheartsoul
But really, why the snarky response? Not everyone is a metal head and you provided absolutely no information about this piece. Just sayin'.
Mara
well, i didn't want
to offend you but i can remeber that you wrote a comment on my last post, which was the same like this one, i just had to delete it, because i thought that i can fix this image (failed...)
and with the last post i gave information about the piece (album cover artwork for a band)
its absolutely true that i had to give this information again, that's what i forgot...
hope that cleared up things a bit, next time, better information, and i'm really sorry about the damaged link...
greets
and why no more information? because the band didn't really expexted something, i just had the freedom to start of with my inspiration
i just expected some overall critique of the piece, if the title works etc.

Unfortunately all the design elements are too small to see for an in depth critique (imo). From a macro perspective, looks typically grungy but I'm not really seeing anything that looks like a tie to nature. Is it the light texture on the cover above the skyline (machines?).
yeah, as i said, i'm sorry that the link doesn't work
and the tie to nature is an octopus, a little bit hidden under the "consciousless" title and a crab beside it! they have one song with lyrics about tentacles... ;)
