RAM Quality
train (49 pencils) | Mon, 2005-10-17 23:24I just got a new PowerBook (yeah!) and want to load it up with some Memory.
So the Apple store has a gig for $500. Apple Memory Module 1GB PC2700 DDR333 SO-DIMM
I shopped around a bit and found a generic for $117 http://www.omnitechnologies.biz/cgi-bin/catalog/cp-app.cgi?affl=D&pg=prod&ref=APLPBG41GB333G&cat=2&catstr=
So, the question is, does it really matter? Why is it almost 5x the price to buy from Apple? Does generic just suck that much?
Would love to hear from peoples experiences.

I would always suggest going to http://www.crucial.com/ They are always cheap and very reliable, with great customer service.
I have also bought a lot of memory from eBay, from a seller called fastmemoryman. The cheapest I have ever seen, and so for no problems. I have bought laptop, iMac and camera memory from him. Probably 10GB memory in total and always been fine.

I've never had any problems with crucial, arrives next day and has never given me reason to be worried about then.

I don't really care what the company buys me as long as I can up it to 2gbs of RAM asap.
