RAM question
BezehBeh (5 pencils) | Fri, 2007-09-07 15:51My Motherboard:
ASUS Crosshair ATX AM2 Nforce 590 SLI DDR2 2PCI-E16 PCI-E4 3PCI SATA2 GBLAN 1394 Sound Motherboard
My ram (so far):
OCZ Platinum XTC PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-5-4-15 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit
I want to know If I can also add 2-2GB ram sticks, while also having the 2-1GB sticks, or will this somehow negativly affect my computer performance. Not sure if I can mix 2GB and 1GB ram sticks. I do have 4 slots (2 free) on my MB.
My Future ram?:
OCZ Platinum XTC PC2-6400 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-800 CL5-4-4-15 DDR2 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit
thanks.

needs to be the same spec. If you have the manual for the board it should tell you what type (and mix if any) of ram you can use. If you don't have the manual got to Asus web site and see if you can download a pdf manual for it. If you don't know the boards exact model\number use Belarc Advisor to find out. Just download it and run it, and it gives you all the tech stuff for you machine. (Google it - it's free)
Hope this helps.
