Raw logo

3dogmama's picture

This is the initial rough draft of a logo for a chef specializing in raw food. It will be on all her stationery and the central focal point on her line of food labels. She gave me some direction with the highlighting of RAW and the circular keyline cigar-wrap look, but I'm not happy with it yet and would appreciate any constructive criticism from the CB talents.

Thank you in advance.

i think the weight of the text is too light. it won't scale well, especially the HUR and CA. i don't know if it really says food to me at all. don't know how to explain my gut reaction, but i get more of a, say, old books or flowers or something kind of feel. and the "dot" looks really lost in there.

Not working

I like the design, and if were someone else I would say that I like the first one, but I've seen the rest of your work, and I know you can come up with something better. A more clever idea, kind of like less design and more thinking.

I suppose it's a very sophisticated chef, create something more sophisticated. I would love to see what you come up with next.

Very nice layout

I agree with dsauna. I would not think of a chef with this logo, although the logo is neat! What are your option if the chef came up with this idea?

I thought it was a logo for

I thought it was a logo for a bar -- a "raw bar"? I don't understand the HUR and CA. I guess the CA is for (dot)CA as in Canada? And HUR is supposed to blend with RAW to create a play on the word hurrah? Oh man. Don't make me work so hard just to understand the logo! Raw foods are supposed to be easier to prepare, so I should think the logo should be a lot less baroque.

Thanks for all the great

Thanks for all the great comments, everyone. The client and I have spoken today and now that she's seen the logo, based upon direction given, she is now re-registering the business name. She still wishes to have the word RAW large, front and center, but next go-round, I will also be throwing one or two others into the arena for comparisons.

I, too, had commented on the understanding-the-logo-right-off-the-bat factor. I told her that "Hur RAW" evoked images of a biblical-roled Charlton Heston in the raw...hmmm not that that's a bad thing!

Cheers.

I think on all three designs the word RAW doesn't seem to fit and looks kinda messy. I also don't get why you've put "CA" on a different level to "HUR" this doesn't make sense to me. So in that respect the third is kinda the best, but the dot is lost. Serif doesn't seem to work here I don't think.
