RDTiburon Business Card

My friends @ RDTiburon were kind enough to advertise one of my sites @ the NOPI Nationals (car show), so in return I made them business cards.

What do you think?

I like the script text / logo, I like that a lot.

One suggestion ( hope you dont mind) , the "www" and ".com" seem very close to the edge. I like the overall feel to the card, feels sporty but not racing sporty (as racing for me is red/black/white)

Nice !

I surely don't mind suggestions (especially coming from a profreshonal lol).

I'll take the note and adjust the spacing for the print version (after I find a CMYK green similar to that...arrgghhh...frustrating).

ok i took your image into illustrator and trying to find a cymk value,

49% 0% 91% 0% and 51% 0% 100% 0% came quite close for me, but that could just be my screen or something... its a very hard colour to get in cmyk

what if you tried getting rid of the car on the left and aligning your text off of the bottom left point of the R?

Going along with jammo, you may not even need the www part and try making the .com in the same font (shrink the title a bit)

Really like that color

Tha's a good idea...I like how the bottom of the text cuts out a little when I do it that way.

I need to keep both cars on it, since the site is devoted to the RD's, which are the 1st and 2nd generation Hyundai Tiburons, and they come in two styles.

Thanks for the pointers!

I'll take a look at the colors on my home computer...its collbaberated better than work's pc.

I was thinking that too but what I was talking about would be if you drew a projection line straight down from that point on the R and left aligned the 3 lines of contact info along that.

Thats why I was saying get rid of the car on the left, if it was aligned left the text would go right on top of it. If you wanted to play around with it you could try to overlap the 2 cars on the right, one behind the other showing not quite as much as the front car. Could be a cool effect.

I guess it's just a personal preference but I had it drilled into my head in a class once never to center any text.

words can be confusing, sorry.

also the color looked best on my powerbook's LCD but when I moved it to the CRT it wasn't so nice. Make sure you get a good idea of how they're going to print if you have access to some pantone books would be good (unless you're printing them yourself).

NOW I know what you mean! LOL Thanx for clarifying that.

It gives an interesting look/feel that way. I like it, and at the same time am indifferent about it. I think it looks good and you make a good point about not center-aligning text. But since SO many b. cards are that way, a properly aligned one looks 'odd' (which I think makes it cool and unique).

If I go that route which I seriously might, I'll have to figure something out with those cars. I really really like the current set up with them half off like that...but I like the left-aligned text...hmmm

I designed it on a PC w/ CRT and it looked good. On my iBook and it's calibration, the green is much darker and less 'limey'. I like the limey color, which is unfortunately not CMYK-friendly. I'll be sending them off to a printer I believe, so I'll have to find a Pantone of a similar green I suppose and just deal with it lol.

I looks nice in a vivid purple/pink too, I think - but I don't think the car club guys would dig that too much :/

I think too much simetry does no good in this case. I would lose the left car and left align the name and title. Also I would make the font much smaller and less contrast with the dark grey. You can make the right car bigger as well. The header works for me and I like the nice contrast between the dark and neon green. How are you planning to print it? Direct colors?

A nice Pantone Astrobright Green ink would be killer... and a satin varnish!

As everyone I love the colors on this.

If I was you I'd do it as a 2 color job and specify 2 pantone colours.

Colour 1 would be a grey/brown and you'll get the effect of transparency by overprinting.

Colour 2 would be a real nice luminous green which you should overprint on the brown so that the wordmark shows through. And as JimD says a little extra dosh on a satin finish and good paper stock will go a long way :)

Sorry I haven't replied sooner - I've been busy with my new Ubuntu system @ work lol.

I really appreciate the suggestions, and I followed your advice and removed the left car, added a new car to the right, and left-aligned the text.

I'll post a shot of it when I boot back into Windows.

I'm not quite sure how they will be printed, since I won't be the one doing that. I've just emailed them the files so they could print them however they wished.

But a varnish like that would be SWEET! I'd really love to see these onces they are printed.

EDIT
Pardon the blue bg (made it so it appeared transparent on client's forums) - here are the cards I made:

There are two different style cars, one for the admin, the other for the subadmin.

Yeah, I agree completely.

If I had the time, I'd design them a new template just out of kindness to get rid of that blue/grey....

Inspried by your post, I made them a skin for their forums/site.

Now their website matches the business cards:

Be careful when using a checkered border around the card, because the cards are not always cut perfectly and any anomalies will stand out like a sore thumb.

Other than that, good card. Did you draw the cars? They look vector.
