rebel! flyer for august 6th
ftrc (145 pencils) | Tue, 2006-08-01 18:20this is rebel! online flyer for august, only one date so far but a special edition is coming with a printed flyer again.
i had no idea how to design this flyer so i started playing around with some of the textures i used on the last one. but this time with a simplier approach and with no recognizable images of people.
i liked the colorscheme and the grungy text that was a little different from the last one but i kept the same helvetica font.
i think it is it. the big version is availabre here: http://www.deviantart.com/view/37087057/
any advices?

I've always been a fan of dirty design

To my eyes, it's attractive... well done..
Did you see the work of David Carson?

Another outstanding use of color and texture!
The only thing I'd recommend is removing some of the dark black texture behind the phone number. I can't tell if the first number is a '3' or a '9'. Also, the second number is a little obscure. Is that a '6' or a '8'? My only other thought would be to 'grunge up' the angled bracket in front of the small type. [It seems a little 'too clean' for this design]
May I ask where you got these great textures?
i dont really care about the phoine number because it will be mentioned with text everywhere the flyer will be posted. and i dont think most people care about it as well.
about the textures you asked. sometime a go i was designing a shop identity and it need lots of brushes. so i bought a spray and did some painting with it. i scanned what i liked and the result can be seen above.
i also like to scan coffee stains on white paper. it always looks great with overlay. =]

It's VERY cool, but can you read it in the dark? I assume these flyers will be distributed in clubs in your area?
