The Red Fox Inn

This is for my in-laws. They have a family cabin and asked me to come up with some ideas... The cabin is located in northern Minnesota USA and is lovingly called the red fox inn. It has a rustic feel but is somewhat modern at the same time. The people with the decision making abilities are varied(7 different people! eek!) Hence the many different styles of art work and fonts. Attached are sketches.

Thanks!
John

What a cool name! You have to do something worthy. These all look like quickie ideas. Spend some time - do something nice. It's an interesting project! I like the fox that's sitting up on your sketch page - looks like a start to me.

haha, now thats nice :) I like the second one, its funny, classic and modern at the same time.
I would love to go in to a bar that looks like that logo. It smells like a fireplace and logs and comfort and pleasing people. It also looks like a mutated dead shark with no head and a fox tale. But thats just the hngover I think.
Thoh! there's a breadcrumb under the A..
Put some more time in.

Wow thanks guys for your positive reviews! :)

Art D. Rector: Yeah they are a little quick... If i don't do it quick i loose interest! :( The main person that is interested in this has a med-high class lvl so I think the fox sitting would be a little more interesting to him. Also I think I forgot to mention these are for invitations. I will put more time into that Idea, Thanks.

Zen: ? Is that you think it looks too close to that logo? Or that you think I should go that route? It is just a family cabin nothing that would be noticed. In other words this is not a business.

Bureauplus: THanks fo your enthusiasm! I did notice that the attention is more on the log that the tail. I could probably shorten up a bit so the tail is more prominent. or a vertical stump?? You better lay off the sauce! :D ?Thoh! there's a breadcrumb under the A..? I don't understand.

qwertyale: Thanks for your response. What kind are you thinking of? I admit me playing with the fonts is very necessary! The mark has been my main concern I will have to give it more attention!

Boy you guys sure know how to give a guy work! :)

Try using a pig or a cow, but replace their eyes with lens flares.

well 3rd left is the best type between this roughs.

you can't joke all rest (life) logo, then you could consider some respectable thin stuff for it.

yes I'm brazilian xD

Hey guys thanks again for the responses! Got some workups from some of what you advised. Let me say that i am not really a fan of the second one here below. I view it now more of practice than anything. I have gotten attached to the top one. The only thing I don't like about that one is the fox tail... which is kinda important!

Crit away!

edit:
Ok I made some and now i like this one much better now.

Okay, I'm getting to the party late, but here's my 2 cents. Most of them are too busy and some should not even be included as ideas for considerations. The candidates for consideration are the top two and the bottom.
The house with the smoke (tail) coming out of the chimney is nice, but it seems to much like red roof in, and few people would recognize the fox tail when taken out of contex of the other images.
The logo with the paw prints has a nice clean look, but the paw prints don't hold together as a unit and end up overpowering the type.
The top right design is intriguing, but your redesign is going in the wrong direction. It became too complex with too much unnecessary information. In the original design, the log is twice as wide as it should be. You have a focal point at one end with the white circle, and at the other with the fox tail. The design would be more powerful if the two were brought together more.
The bottom design is a nice classic style. It conjures up images of fox hunts and Old English cottages--not the description that you gave of your in-laws family cabin with its modern touches.
Your most recent design of the reclining fox has a lot of strength. Try to smooth out the curves to give it a more contemporary feel. Foxes are intrinsically "cute" so be sure to work on that part of your illustration.
The type IMHO is all wrong. I would stay away from brush scripts and look for a simple serif font with wide spacing. Then I would make it about one fourth the size that it is now in relation to the figure. (Think Ralph Lauren or Polo). Let the image be your mark, and use the name as a clarifier
