Resume' Please Help
BmBeards (40 pencils) | Tue, 2010-05-18 01:08I am updating my graphic design resume since graduating college. I have not had much of any luck finding any design related work since graduating. Hence I have a lot of unrelated jobs. What is the best way to tackle this and still be able to mention my internship I had while still in school? Do I need to keep everything to one page or should I cut out unrelated work?

Cut unrelated.
Pretty much what I thought. Thanks Ivan!
i disagree. most times, fresh-outs dont have any relevant experience. and employers will want/need to know that the person can simply show up and do a job.
now i wouldnt go listing every yard you ever mowed but if you did anything for any period of time. id include that.
this is yet another example of why its good to get an internship while in college...
if unrelated work pushes your resume to two pages, cut unrelated work.
If the work helped you gain or hone a useful skill, or could provide a (beneficial) talking point or get the reviewer's attention (again, in a beneficial way), show it.
Don't use it to bulk out or pad your resume, and keep in mind gwells' point that it's probably the first thing to cut if you are going over your page limit.
Thank you for everybody's input!! Here is what I ended up with. Feel free to critique if you would. Thanks again for helping me out.
P.S.
Sorry about having to get the attachment, I have yet to figure out how to insert it strictly as an image.
Make any unrelated work related in some way if you can. Did you save a company money just by being there? That's valuable!
