Why did you merge them to save as a pdf?

It should be pretty easy to somewhat recreate it based on the PDF if you still have the original images, etc.

Ah, yes. Always fun when you do that. Unfortunately, there isn't anything you can do about it. The goo news is that recreating a file takes a whole lot less time than creating it in the first place.

I just did that about two months ago on a poster with about 60 layers. Doh!

Well, on the bright side, consider this a very good lesson learned. It's bound to happen at least once in your Photoshopping career, and it seems to happen more often on large projects where re-starting from scratch can seem to be a very daunting task.

Sorry for your loss, and use this experience to improve the way in which you work with Photoshop in the future by saving often, duplicating .psd's / layers, and performing backups of important (or even all) projects. I recommend backing up your .psd's every morning before commencing the day's work.

You're stuck. There wasn't any need to merge the layers.

Going for an interview at an agency and I was asked to do a press ad in one hour with elements they supplied. . . lol

I was finished in 40 minutes. . . then instead of clicking Save in the save as dialog, I clicked. . . yes you guessed it. . . Don't save. . . lost the WHOLE thing!

I will NEVER forget that I had to rebuild the whole thing in 20 minutes. . .

Never did get that job. . .not because I f-d up the "test" I got another offer that was better at the same time. . .:)

But NOW I remember to Stop. read. and then click. . . :)

Are you running OS X 10.5? Do you have Time Machine set up with automatic backups?

Time Machine has saved my butt a time or two in the last year.
