Google doodle poorly executed

Quick rant. Today's Earth Day Google doodle is a great concept poorly executed. The feathering is sloppy. You can even see the bottom right corner slightly. C'mon Dennis spend 5 more minutes on a celebratory logo that is seen by 100 million people world-wide!

Btw, I'm pretty sure this is a hidden message. What we see of Google today is just the tip of the iceberg!

I've always learnt that 9/10th of an iceberg is below water, I thought you were talking about that...

That's true, but we cant expect to visualize that on this logo.

personally i like the edges, they have a painterly feel

I don't have a problem with that. I have a problem with the way it blends to white. It should be seamless. There should not be a sharp edge between the end of the file and the white background. This is very apparent on the bottom right corner if you set your monitor to a bit dark. Also on the bottom left the smudge is cut sharp.

I agree, but the painterly feel probably would look better that smidge bigger.

Google is what made the Titanic sink!

Actually, I think Google is making a direct reference to the melting icecaps with this logo.

I agree with smqt that 9/10ths should be below the surface. Though I would probably have gone the whole hog leaving just a puddle spelling out "Google" but then I suppose there is no evidence that it was once ice and hence melted. An intersesting concept, I wonder what else was on the drawing board?
